Strategy Guide: Advanced Logic
Welcome to the deep end. The training wheels are off. Here is how to navigate the complex mechanics of Levels 8 through 20.
Levels 8–10 & 13–15: Systems & Substitution
You are given a primary equation and a definition for y (e.g., Given y = 2x + 7). You must substitute the y expression into the main equation.
- Standard Move: Type the newly merged equation (e.g.,
5x+3(2x+7)=45) and press EXECUTE. Then solve for x normally.
- TIME SAVER BONUS: If you mentally distribute the 3 across the (2x+7) and type the expanded result (e.g.,
11x+21=45), you instantly skip a step and earn a massive +50 XP bonus!
Levels 11 & 19: The Void (Factoring)
You are dealing with quadratic equations that need to be factored into two groups: (x + a)(x + b) = 0.
- Level 11: The equation is already set to zero. Find two numbers that multiply to make the constant (C) and add to make the middle number (B). Type
factor [num1] [num2].
- Level 19: You must first move the loose constant to the other side so the equation equals 0 before you can use the factor command!
Level 16: Literal Equations
No numbers. Just abstract letters. Use standard math commands (/a, -b, sqrt) to isolate x.
Level 17: The Paradox (Inequalities)
Operates exactly like Level 2, but with a critical catch. If you divide or multiply by a NEGATIVE number, the inequality sign flips!
- The Rule: The point always points at the smaller value.
- The Mechanic: When you divide by a negative, the engine will pause. You must manually type the flipped symbol (
< or >) to continue.
Level 18: Stand in the Fire
You are presented with two stacked equations. The y values are perfect opposites (e.g., +4y and -4y).
- The Mechanic: You must mentally add the top and bottom equations together so the y variable is eliminated.
- The Input: Type the resulting equation. For example, if adding them creates 15x = 45, type
15x=45 and press EXECUTE.
Level 20: Architect of Creation
The final test. You are dropped into real-world physics formulas (Kinetic Energy, Ohm's Law, etc.).
- SADMEG: Remember to undo addition/subtraction before you undo division/multiplication!
- Basement Traps: If the variable you want is on the bottom of a fraction, multiply to move it to the main floor first!
- The Curveball: Pay close attention to the target variable! You might get the Density formula and be asked to solve for Volume... or you might be asked to solve for Mass. Read carefully!
